Who is a Scammer






Scammer is a person who commit or participate in fraudulent. They tricks people to get their money money through illegal method.

Scammers operate in different form, with the aim of getting hold of your money, a lot of people have been scammed in one way or the other, across the country.

Here are some tips that will help you to identify scammers

  1. They contact you first, unexpectedly 
  2. Pretend to be your friend or family member
  3. Pretend to be from a big organization, you trust.
  4. Already identify the problems themselves
  5. Already have the prize to communicate with you
  6. Advice or ask you to be part of the deal.
  7. Create a tense of urgency, pressurizing you to act quickly by investing in the business or pay certain/any amount of money in a specific way before you realize what they are up to.
  8. Online scammers ask for specific confidential information, such as pin and password to secure your account, pretending to be from your bank
  9. Ask you to click a link or download an attachment or QR code.
  10. Not using a secured website "http:// "  without the "s" https://
  11. Scammers Web page lack contact information of the company 
  12. They overpay you, for a goods or services you rendered and ask you to refund the extra with wire transfer or gift card, after they disappear you will later find out the money originally claimed to pay was fake.
  13. They bargain/ask you to pay or deposit for items  you haven't seen.

What to do if you suspect any scam


If you suspect that you are dealing with a scammer, immediately stop the conversation, and peradventure you have open a scammed page online , check your online account for warning,  then its good to enable the two-factor authentication (2FA) using password manager,  also change your passwords immediately.

If you are already fall a victim 
  • Break off the contact 
  • If its an online scamming e.g. Facebook or Amazon or other online shopping, report them so they can be removed
    • If your credit or debit card is used for the transaction, contact the issuer, if its through a wire or app such as PayPal, Palm Pay etc. contact the Company fraud department and if possible they may reverse your money.
  • Report immediately to the necessary security agencies in order to stop future occurrence
