How Children Day Started

CHILDREN DAY 



Different  Country have various date to celebrate and honour children. It is a day dedicated for the children and the minor. Children all over the world await this day eagerly.


It is a day first originated by Reverend. Dr Charles Leonard of the Universal Church of the Redeemer in Chelsea Massachusetts on the Second Sunday of June 1857, he held a special service for.the children, although Leonard named it the Rose day and was later name the Children day.

International Children Day was first proclaimed in Turkey in April 23 1920, and later during world conference for the Child Welfare held in Geneva, Switzerland in 1925, to improve children welfare and togetherness.
Rubbish Mansoor mooted the idea of a Universal Children's Day and was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1954, encouraging all country to promote mutual understanding among children and also to initiate action of benefit to children welfare, celebrating their childhood.


It was first celebrated worldwide in October 1955, sponsored by the International Union for Child Welfare in Geneva.
International Children day comes up on 20th November anually to commemorate the right of child by UN General Assembly 

In Nigeria it was first observed across the Nation in 1950, initiated by late Chief Obafemi Awolowo who lost his daughter Taiwo Awolowo to malaria in 1940 soon after birth. He was the then leader of opposition in the Western House Assembly  during the colonial rule. He was strongly passionate about protecting Nigerian children from abuse by adults.Its traditionally celebrated in Nigeria on 27th May annually



How to Celebrate Children Day with our kids.

Every parents wants a strong and healthy children. It's a day to appreciate God for their child/children biological or adopted. Its an opportunity to let them know how special they are to us and the Community.

Take them out, do things they enjoy with them, watch children movies with them. Engange in dalogue with them, help them or teach them to develop their self esteemed  and confident, assist them to identify their weakness and strengths. 
You can also challenge them under your supervision, if teenagers to cook and do other house chores, by so doing you are teaching them to be self sufficient adult. Take them on sex education, teach them good life skills such as time management,  seld confident, relationship tips, managing finances etc this will help them in life


Above all always commit them into God’s hands
